If your family is looking for the comforts of home in a rural setting, your ladies group desires a country getaway, or you have a small business group in need of solitude for a company retreat, The Rock Vacation Rental is well suited for your needs. Situated on a rolling hillside overlooking the Ohio River, our 1,750 square foot lodging facility has been furnished to accommodate its Adams County visitors. And, it is private; your family/group will be the only guests in the house.
Inside the house you’ll find a fully-equipped kitchen, spacious dining/living room area, two full baths, satellite television, and comfortable sleeping accommodations for 2 to 13 adults. The rooms are decorated and meticulously maintained to be a welcome haven for all of our guests. For the youngsters there is a toddler bed, a portable crib and a bassinet available. Relax outside on the front porch or enjoy a barbequed meal and quiet respite on the side patio.
While hiking the fields and woods of The Rock, or the Whipple State Nature Preserve trail across the road, you will have the opportunity to observe and photograph an abundance of nature. The Ohio River and nearby Brush Creek will afford you the opportunity to do some fishing or leisurely boating. Deer bowhunting packages, on private property, are also available at The Rock.
On site a 24’ x 24’ log cabin is currently under construction. The stone foundation has been set in place and the logs are going up. In the near future this will provide guests with the option of a more rustic means of lodging.
A bonus attraction for train enthusiasts and the “kid in all of us” is a 1940 Norfolk & Western caboose which has been moved onto the property. After doing thorough research and visiting other restored cabooses the hope is to restore this caboose to its original condition while adding some modern amenities to accommodate today’s visitors.
