Hunting

The Rock Hunting Outfitters is located in Southern Ohio where there is an abundance of healthy whitetail deer.  The photo on this page is of a Boone and Crockett 173-2/8, beautiful 8-point buck, which hangs on our cabin wall, taken from this area in 2002.

All of the deer are free roaming and our hunts are not guided.  We will set you up in the areas that we feel present the best bowhunting opportunity for you to harvest a whitetail deer.  While some of the best trophy bucks in the country came from Adams County in 2006, we also encourage the harvesting of does.

You may purchase a 3, 4 or 5 day hunting trip by itself or add lodging and meals at the vacation rental house described on the Lodging link of this site.  The house is situated on a 50-acre portion of the hunting grounds.  Packages are set up for you to arrive the day before your hunt begins, hunt for 3 to 5 full days, and depart the following morning.

Regardless of your age you must have a hunting license to hunt legal game in Ohio.  In addition to your hunting license, you must purchase a Special Deer Permit to hunt deer in Ohio.  To purchase a hunting license, you must do one of the following:

  1. present a previously held hunting license, or
  2. present evidence of having successfully completed a hunter education course (from any state), or
  3. swear that you are 21 years of age or older and have previously held a hunting license (from any state)

Hunting licenses may be purchased over the Internet from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources or at one of 1,200 license sales outlets in Ohio.  Hunters age 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
